Re: cool

Wow! That was incredible! The body movements were so smooth and life-like! Definitely had a bit of a creepiness factor, but so cool!

Re: cool

Interesting, but it didn't seem to do much. I am waiting for the day they make one that will clean my house and do the laundry. The best one I have seen so far is the one that takes the plates off your table and puts in in the dishwasher (I saw that on Daily Planet). The other good one is the one that cuts your lawn by itself and then docks itself when it is done.

A good one for us is one that can cover a plane for us- I love to build but man I hate to cover....lol

LOL. When we have robots that do all you'd like them to, is the day the robots will easily take over because we will all weigh over 400 lbs from sheer lack of exercise and will hardly be able to move.

The robot featured is definitely somewhat creepie. I could just imagine that it would certainly freak out the cat! I liked the demo with the coke can, which could just as easily be a can of beer...."Robo, bring more beer!" Now, that would be an accomplishment, although, once again, adding to the overweight problem!

Hey don't laugh, its true. Did you know Japan, the leader in robot technology, is working hard on robot development because the Japanese population is aging faster than the support services can keep up? The first practical application of a robot is aimed at hospital patient care. Typically, when a patient needs to me moved while bed ridden (ie to change the sheets or a sponge bath, etc..), you need 2 to 3 nurses to help move the patient around. The plan it to have 1 robot and 1 nurse, with the robot doing heavy lifting and the nurse putting it into position. Think of it as a forklift for humans....

In the Japanese home front, it will be all of the above- Preparing and bringing food to the elderly, clearing the table, Helping them out of bed, carrying their groceries into the house.... It will be the "Jetsons" before you know it..
