I would like to thank Max the opportunity to review his Winners Model Yak55m.

I picked up the Yak from Max this morning, and after having a good look at the package. First thing I noticed is how well it is packaged. All the parts are bagged and taped to the inside of the box and with additional cardboard packing to secure all the parts.

I also picked up a package of hardware from Max, including:

Motor: Hengli, 850kv
ESC: 44Amp Himodel
Lipo: Zippy 2,200mAh 3S 25c and a Great Hobbies 2,200mAh 3s 35c
Prop: Gemfan 13x6.5 or APC 13x6.5
Servos: Tower Pro MG90

During unpacking and inspecting everything I did not notice any damage and everything looks straight and true.

The airframe is very in unique, mostly constructed from 3mm EPP foam reinforced with plywood doublers and mounting plates for servos and control horns. The airframe also includes a plug in wings with a carbon fiber wing tube and a top hatch for easy access to the lipo and Rx.

The airframe looks very straight forward to assemble and should be able to be done in a very short time.

The Wings:
The wing and just simply pushed onto a wing tube and through the fuselage and held in place with a pair of rubber bands looped around two pairs of mounting hooks and the root of the wing.

Re: Winners Model Yak55m Build/Assembly, Test flying Log.

Tailplane and elevator:
I started by pushing the elevator through the side of the fuselage and then the tailplane in a same fashion. Once both the tailplane and elevator through the fuselage you have plenty of room to push the elevators and hinges onto the tail plane.

Take your time to make sure the tailplane assembly is mounted on straight before gluing in place. Don't forget to make sure the tailplane assembly is parallel with the top surface of the wing. If it is off, I cut cardboard wedges using the packaging from the hardware. I just wedge them into the under surface of the lowest side of the tailplane.

Fin:
The fin simply pushes and glues into a slot in the fuselage. I did have to carefully open out the slot a little. Don't forget to make sure the fin is perpendicular with the tailplane.

I am using a 3M glue similar to UHU por. It seams to work very well and leave a flexible joints

Hi Bryan, I've got all kinds on the go right now and I have not finished with indoor yet, plus working plenty of overtime.

I have 3 of Scott Barnhart planes I'm getting ready to fly on Friday and once I get them out of the way I be back on the Yak.

Hows your working out?

My Yak is together, just setting up the radio. Should have it flying soon.

This sounds like a very good idea to fine tune the relative positioning of the airframe parts before applying just enough glue to secure everything.

Thanks for sharing.
