Carlisler & I try to make fire. I feel we failed you

Scott and I had been talking about these safe charge bags. While we both agree that they would likely prevent a ton of damage in the event of a fire, we wanted to see it in action.

So, we devised a plan. Scott sacrificed an already dying but holding a charge lipo and I put up the lipo safe bag.

Here is one certainty. Scott and I (as you can see) clearly don't know how to destroy a lipo in a dramatic fashion... I think we need Calvin (overcharge pro)

Anyhow, our video and this is where the bags are from. Another attempt is coming (anyone got a lipo they want to destroy and a big charger?)

My favorite part I laughed at was the get the board part which I never used to hammer the screw in. LOL

I feel we should make more awesome videos like this. Its only a matter of time before something awesome happens and we capture it. haha

Any suggestions people, how do we really make it blow up in the bag? 60 amp charge?

What about just touching the positive and negative together. You could use some extensions, so you don't need to be too close.

Robs RC has a shooting video. Not very practical around the GTA, but it was neat.

Keep up the good work

Re: Carlisler & I try to make fire. I feel we failed you

I've seen videos with flames, etc., just from a nail. No bag though. Maybe try shorting the leads and immediately punch a nail in. It's also possible that there's not much oxygen inside the bag.

I'd have to say it looks like the bag was doing its job though. Thanks for the video. Nice attempt. It's nice to know that it won't be too easy to get worst case scenario results.

battery looked to be dead, a fully charged one would have smoked and make good mess.. On those bag's there are holes on either end so..

According to the charger, battery was almost 100% full. And we did charge at 10amps and I seen the meter increase. Also in the salt water it was discharging for some time still.

I suspect technique was the cause of no flames & explosions... thankfully so since now there is no video of us running away like girls. lol..

Test must be redone!

It IS possible that the battery was weaker. Especially now! But, fire needs oxygen, and even with holes, the oxygen would be limited. I know that the bags aren't sealed, but that's still part of how they work. Once the battery starts to "go", it will burn up most of the oxygen and push the rest out.

Maybe, a video with one inside, and one outside of the bag to see the difference. I'm not suggesting ruining batteries needlessly. Just a thought.
