Old Mikado Vbar Setup (Series 3?)

I picked up a used Logo 600 that came with an older Mikado controller.
I'm hoping to gather information as I take some time to check over and setup the heli.

I've included some pics below showing what I think is a series 3 version .
(based on the metal sensor case and the USB port).

According to the Mikado version history (here), it looks like I cannot swap the sensor with a newer version. I think this should be fine since I'm not going to push this bird hard anyway.

Is it safe to assume that I can use the latest setup software and firmware versions?

you may need to download a older version to to access the controls. once you plug it into the computer it will recognize the serial # and version. you will have to go from there.

Yeah... I'm going through the hoops now to get some accounts setup on the Mikdao sites. Still trying to get software from the archives.

Re: Old Mikado Vbar Setup (Series 3?)

I figured it would take time to get my account setup on the Vstabi site. I left it while I took the family camping, but it still wasn't allowing me to download the software today.

Found that I mistakenly setup my account on the USA shop, but needed to use the Euro shop. I just missed seeing that licensing condition the first time.

So, now that I have the software, I need to double check that I can do this:

- Install and Run 4.0 Software
- Plug 2S Rx Lipo into the Collective port on the Central Unit
- Plug USB cable into Central Unit and PC

That should give me the serial number and firmware information of the unit.

Re: Old Mikado Vbar Setup (Series 3?)

Using the V4.0 software was a bit confusing... but support at Mikdao was very helpful in getting it sorted out.

Problem:
- My Vbar firmware was Version 3.x
- Oldest software is V4.x

This combination didn't work so I needed to update the firmware.
But... you can't update the firmware using V4.x of the software.

So:

- Installed software V5.x
- Installed latest drivers
- Powered up Vbar and connected
- Did online update (Firmware V4.x)

This created a new Problem:
- Vbar firmware Version V4.x
- Software version is V5.x

So.... Re-installed Software V4.x and everything worked. Perfectly simple.

Now to start sizing 10s lipos..

BTW: It is a series 3 unit (based on the serial number starting with 9).. so I don't think I can upgrade the sensor. They are only interchangeable after series 4..
