Hi, I am interested in getting a 3D ARF to use with a gas engine. Must have removable horiz. tail feathers and use a gas engine (not yet purchased).

I don't want a real big plane as I live in an appartment and must go through many doors. Also prefer 2 piece wings.

Don't terrible need the latest and best but something I can play with. Want gas as I am now retired and want to travel and don't want to carry glow 'gear', bad enough having to carry 'jet' gear/support equipment and 'gas' gear.

Hanger9 Funtana90 69'' wingspan two piece removable wing very aerobatic. But it takes mostly glow engines.If you want to take the plane with you when you travel go with any of the 3D electric flyers you can fly them anywhere.

The hangar 9 extra 260 27% , the wildhare yak 54 27% I don't know if the stabs come off. The best for a 50cc is chip hyde's double vision. The stabs do come off. After that you get into very large planes. There is a guy in anouther thread on this site talking about converting a 90 size engine into gas. Most gas motors below 45cc are heavy compared to there glow counterparts. MVVS 45cc looks good at 2.7 lbs and the new bme 55 is supposed to be 2.1 LBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The SuperTiger 90 gas conversion is available now. Jason from Maxxair has recently purchased one from what I've read on here, and seems to think it's agood thing.

Take alook at the Ultra RC Giles. Reported of 10-12 ish pounds with a MVVS 1.6 and tunned pipe. I think this would be a very cool small gasser. Flight reports said giant foamy like performance.

From what I have seen, you will not be happy with a gas airplane under 50cc. As power/weight ratio is so important to 3D it just doesn't seem to make sense below 50cc. MVVS makes some great small gas engines but they need a tuned pipe to get good performance and this gets expensive if you want to keep it light. Here's a couple of suggestions:

You got to check out the aerotech Yak 54 arf I flew one when I was in florida and they fly awesome great for 3D and or Imac.

Has a 2 piece wing and removable tail feathers as well.

And either the DA50, or the 3W50 engine. DA has a little more power but both are proven and reliable. Although more Canadian hobbyshops carry the DA line.
