turbines

RC_MAN, We (TJT ) sell a 27 lb thrust turbine (TJT 3000) http://www.TJT.bz
and the 13 lb thrust turbine (PST J600) http://www.pstjets.com
I think all the info you are looking for can be found on the above websites.
pictures are also available of both these turbines in my user gallery.

If 13 lb thrust PST J600 is not enough for you, the TJT3000 can always be operator set to safely deliver lower thrust settings

I am also curios to hear of the jet project you have in mind?

Cheers-

The 13 lb thrust turbine will go into Mick Reeves Venom kit. I need the thrust to get off grass, but have to keep the weight and fuel burn low. I was going to use my RAM 750 but changed my mind due to the higher idle thrust and fuel consumption.

Please e mail me price in Canadian Dollars delivered to Windsor, Onrario. N9J 3H8

The RCJI rewiew venom flew great on the RAM 500, the PSTJ600 would be a great choice from what the reviewer said. Lower thrust but low weight and decent acceleration.

Venom eh!

RC_MAN I am very happy to hear you are building a MR Venom as I am just about to purchase one for myself. Have you received kit yet? what is your impression of quality, accessories etc?
I love the unique look and classic design, it has a ton of character and will fly awesome with its huge wing area. I plan on installing the PST J600 in mine of coarse, and have no doubt it will perform extremely well off both sealed and grass strips due to it low wing loading and large wing area.

I have also just discovered that a German kit exists for a 1/7 scale turbine U2....another unique classic on my wish list, hope Santa is still excepting xmas orders

RC_MAN check your email OK

I'm looking at the Mick Reeves Venom as well (as opposed to scratch building a Vampire). Could you tell us (if you don't mind) what the landed cost was in Canada?

Thanks

Venom

Gentlemen

The Venom look slike it will be a good flier off rough fields. The kit is OK but be ready to do a lot of building and head scrathing. There are no instructions, only hand drawn plans with a few comments thrown in. Lots of room in the fuselage.

On my fiberglass fuselage work I give it 8/10. This thing will take 11 to 15 servos so heads up. 2 for air brakes, 2-4 for flaps, 2 for rudders, 1-2 for elevator, 2 for ailerons, 1 for brakes, 1 for retracts,1 for gear doors and if you have a few dollars left over 1 for smoke system, and of course 1 for the ECU.

Hi Peter,

If you need power out of an MW-54 class engine, then the SimJet 1200 is your answer. Out of all of the 1200s I've tested (and I test every one sold in North America) the average thrust is 13 to 13.5 lbs in 30C weather. (Due to the colder temps my current average is around 15 lbs!)

To answer your fuel burn question, at nominal power settings you can expect on the order of 4 to 5 oz per minute. (Figure on 60oz for an 8 minute flight and you're golden.)

If you're interested in any "first hand reports", I'd be more than happy to put you in contact with several people.

COOL RUNNING

G'day Kevin, Interesting coments about cool weather turbine running. I hope to run a PST J600 this weekend (weather prevailing?) for the AMA approval video, I have the J600 mounted to a GT MAXX test bench with thrust reading scale...(as below) I am also very interested to see how the MW 54 performs thrust wise in the cooler climate, this will be a first for this engine (PST J600) as it has undergone all previous R&D in Thailands tropical climate.
I know I will not be able to resist some snow blowing fun either.... once official video for the AMA is shot, I will make another for Canadian Tire (they may just be interested in a turbine powered snow blower)

Cheers-

Marty,

Yes, Ive been heard making many off-handed comments at my club about bringing out one of my "kero-powered runway clearing devices" so we can all go fly from the hard top...

Please let us know what you find for thrust numbers...
