Well, I guess it's update time. Last night after three/four days of a couple hours here and there, I finished glassing the plane. Alot of that time was saved by using that eze kote, my lord is that stuff easy to use. Anyhoo back to the build. Now it's time to prime and sand some more to find all my hidden low/high spots. I will take some pics and post the progress so far. Today it will be add the rad scoops and wing fillers to the bottom of the wing.

Carl: Make sure you remember to add the plywood aileron horn mounts. I missed doing one side and the aileron horn pulled out shortly after takeoff. A years work gone in 10 seconds!
This plane really wants to fly.

Thanks Cope, sorry to hear about your planes untimely departure. I made sure they were both on there.

As promiced when I got home I took a couple pics. Please excuse the mess of the work table/bench. I haven't cleaned up from glassing yet.

Re: Old Dave Platt Spitfire build

Thanks Max. Pics can not do this bird justice, its just freaking beautiful. I am hoping to have it primed up this weekend. Right now I am just doing the lil things, servo tray, fuel dot, remote glow etc. Getting it all ready for the final sanding before primer.

Re: Old Dave Platt Spitfire build

Well, it's update time again. Friday and Saturday night was spent wetsanding down the entire glassed plane to get it ready for primer. Sunday was primer day. I used both grey primer and then a light coat of white primer on top to aid as a guide coat for sanding. Today was spent making a new mess of my work table in wet sanding the primered plane. Now all I have to do is a few minor fixes to some low spots and she is ready for paint. So here are some pics of the plane so far. I "taped" the spinner onto the nose for added scale look.

Re: Old Dave Platt Spitfire build

Looking real good there man, can't wait to see it in action this winter. I actually looked at my other fighter kit and may try thet system you were talking about, I have a small compressor for sale buy the way if you need a system with regulator for painting, or you could just borrow it.

Thanks Jim, I am getting pumped about seeing her fly too, and not spiral to her death to get smashed on the iceroad...

Thanks for the offer on the compressor Jim, but I have a small one myself, just need to get a water trap. I am thinking bout buying a gravity feed spray gun to paint her up. Not sure yet.
