We were careful to try and apply the paint evenly, but you are right. Every little bit can affect balance.

I'm sure It will be almost silence in stereo. BTW might you have any 70mm kits to a good home? I seem to have a few vacancies in the hanger. Cougar got a bit wired, MB339 aka "Snappy" needs to but put down.

Re: LX A10 Warthog build with twin 70mm Changesun 12 blade fans

Progress... Nose attached along with its myriad of wires. The supplied water slide decals were trimmed around the edges to reduce the reflective clear.
Very happy with the results so far. The nose seems solid enough with the two dowels connecting the fuselage and cockpit section. Cockpit coming along.
Always nice to have the pilot on board for the maiden flight.
With some decent weather this plane should have a chance to fly soon.
Love the large size of this model!

Re: LX A10 Warthog build with twin 70mm Changesun 12 blade fans

Today we did the maiden flights (7 in total). The CS/Cyclone power 6S fans were plenty of power. With my timer set to 4 minutes I ended up putting back 3700-3800mah back into the Gens Ace 6S 25C 5500mah packs. The planes CG seemed fine at 85mm. It just flies off effortlessly needing very little runway or elevator input (on pavement). Landings have to be slowed down or it will porpoise back into the air. Stall is very predictable with full flaps (haven't tried a clean stall yet). The split aileron airbrakes worked well coming out of loops or just a very steep decent but unfortunately the simulated machine gun sound is too quiet to be heard. The fans themselves are also very quiet but there is some bearing noise which can be heard at very low RPM (cheap bearings I suppose). When flying high speed a strange loud buzzing sound would come from the plane and we think it is the wing center section slats as they are somewhat flexible. A small support in the middle of each slat should fix it. The Lander brakes were used only on the first flight and the plane stops on a dime. For subsequent flights only the airbrake ailerons were used and that looked pretty neat. There was a fair wind today so not much runway is needed. Even with no wind I suspect this plane uses much less than most jets. It may have it's weaknesses in stock form, but with a few common sense reinforcements, I think this plane is a keeper.
Highly recommended for anyone wanting an easy flying large jet.

Sorry Tim,
I wasn't sure things would happen today with the wind that was blowing.
I'll be sure to let you know next time we head out.
Eric

Here's a link to The video Tim was able to make. You can get an idea of the A10's decent performance. Some focus issues but perhaps we can get together for a better one soon!
Thanks Tim
