Ok so what does this mean

1.MYSTERY 5000 KV Outrunner Brushless Motor and 30A Speed Controller ESC
for RC Model Helicopter and Airplane
2.Rotational Speed 5000 RPM/V
Continuous Current 20A
Max. Current 25A
Input Voltage 6 - 18V
Max. Efficiency 96%

I am just not sure what or how they measure the rpm, is it 5000 rpm x the number of volts . That appears to be very fast . How big of a plane would you use this in

Re: Translate into English please

This sounds like a motor for the T Rex 450 helicopter which will be geared down to
the headspeed you want by choosing the number of teeth on the pinion drive gear.
Probably not what you want for airplane application.

Re: Translate into English please

For an airplane you would probably want to run it thru a gearbox or you could go direct drive but probably only for a pylon racer type plane.

Re: Translate into English please

If you can tell us what type or name of plane....it is easier for us to recommend
a good motor for you.

Re: Translate into English please

You can try this, I've used it and it seems easy to use. It lists almost all manufacturers. http://www.motocalc.com/index.html Daren

Gee, I'm a Journeyman Electrician, and I don't know what a 5000 KV motor for hobby use is.
I work with 260 KV every day; and that's 260 thousand volts AC.

As an electrician, I'm not sure how they class small hobby electric motors. But, from what I read, neither do'es anyone else.

You ask a good question? How can the average Joe tell what is mean"t by the manufacturers sale specifications.

I'm a journeyman electrician, and I don't know.

Re: Translate into English please

The KV rating that most hobby motors use is the rpm per volt, ie. 3 cell lipo 11.1V 1000KV motor will turn 11100 rpm, thr rpm will drop some depending on the load, here is a chart from a GWS brushless http://www.gwsus.com/english/product/motor/gwblm001.htm that i have, i wish every motor manufacturer would give this out as it makes it much easier to judge the performance of a given motor.
