Re: Best Gyro for Blade 400

To answer more definitively - yes. All receivers (at least modern ones) output signals in the same way. So a futaba receiver will work with futaba equipment, or spek/jr, or hitec, etc., same with a spek receiver, or hitec receiver. They're all interchangeable.

The only thing to watch out for is the servo you use with your gyro. Gyros sometimes have a specialized system using a different pulse width for the servo they use. For example, Futaba's GY611 gyro is designed to work with a Futaba S9256 tail servo. If you use a standard servo, you'll burn it out.

If you're going with the Spartan gyro, no need to worry about this too much. The gyro is programmable, so you can set it to work with whatever servo you end up with.

Re: Best Gyro for Blade 400

I take it the programming is pretty straight forward and then some fine tuning during pre flight setup?

Re: Best Gyro for Blade 400

In most cases it'll work great right out of the box, with only programming endpoints, servo type and direction. The programming involves wiggling sticks around on your radio at certain times, etc. I've you've ever programmed an ESC you'll have no trouble.

Option B is get the spartan link cable as well, plug the gyro into your laptop and program it that way. That way is very intuitive, and gives more granular control over the options in the gyro. The downside is that it requires a laptop.

Anyway, easy is a matter of opinion. You'll need to read through the manual to figure it out, but once you've done it once or twice, it'll be easy as pie. The first couple times there might be a bit of head scratching

Re: Best Gyro for Blade 400

Just for size reference here is a JR7703D(GY401 is almost same size) beside a Spartan Quark. Quark is very compatible size for smaller 450/500 size helis.
