Iron on covering

Its been a while since i've covered a plane, thanks in part to building SPADS!! The little bit I did always looked like a dogs breakfast in the end as well.
I have a brand new top flite iron, a sock for it and a heat gun. I'm covering a wing for a trainer. The million dollar question is : which type of covering is easiest to apply for a beginner? Are they all about the same? I will not be painting it, just adding a few decals or another color on top. I will fly it during the winter a bit, so i'm already ruling out monocote, as I have had bad experiences with it 'shattering' in the cold. I also don't want to break the bank!
Thanks

Re: Iron on covering

I've used Monocote, Sig Aerocote and Ultracote, and of the three, I prefer Ultracote hands down. Very easy to apply and shrink, and tougher than Monocote,

I agree. I've tried several brands and I now buy nothing but ultracote for the reasons stated above.
