Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West
One doa rcexl.
One 3w started misfiring after 250+ flights. Other than that no issues on any others....not even the old falcon Zdz used years back, although some had issues |

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West
Had one rc-exel pickup fail after I flat spun the plane into the dirt. Had a ignition module fail (old, well used, and run a few times on an un-regulated 2 cell LiFe pack).
They have served me well, but hey "I Can't Fly"!!! Or "Tune"!:Rollo verlaughing: Last edited by Eye Can Fly; 06-02-2014 at 04:34 PM. |

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West
Jack, Jack, Jack, I wouldn't want ya mad at me!
Just got in from testing/tuning flights with the new old engine. I got 4 semi-landings in vs arrivals!!!! Funny how a few dead sticks shake the confidence!!!! "I Can't Fly"! or "Tune"!!! |

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West
I am a stubborn SOB. I will set the thing up on my test stand and see whats up, before I start rippin' stuff off it! First order of business is to put a dial indicator on the crankshaft, my gut tells me it has a bent crank!
BUT, it doesn't vibrate like a crank issue, seems a lot like a leaky bearing seal. I can tune chainsaws (had to, made most of my living for 15 years with 'em). A saw with band seals usually won't start, but if they do, they don't run very well. |

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West
I should have said, it doesn't shake like a real DA!!!!!
I know I have never had a prop strike (I'm already short of that size prop), but I see that someone has repaired a wheel pant hole in the one wing. Could pull the hub to see what the key looks like. Option 2 would be to mess with the timing...... |
