Also, driving my E10 Drift car, as well.

Re: What is everyone flying?

The second build of the Nutball:

- 6mm EPP Foam, 20" diameter, CF support rods front and rear, triangle shaped fuse underneath
- 2712-12 1300kv Blue Wonder from HeadsUpRC
- APC 9x4.5 prop
- 10A Power Up ESC from HeadsUpRC
- 9g Great Planes servos
- 800mAh 2S
- Dubro hardware: 1.5" wheels, micro2 horns, EZ connectors, EZ Links
- AUW: 6.7oz, 190g

Setup Data:

- CG: 5.5" to 6.25" from LE (27.5% - 31.5%). Rearward CG makes hovering easier but it can be more twitchy.
- Motor thrust angle: Approx 3deg down and 3deg right thrust. The prop shaft center line is in line with the wing surface. Build in some adjustment as the torque effect is very pronounced.
- Control surface throws: Rudder: Low 3/4", High 1.5" (with 75% expo), Elevator: Low 3/4", High 1.5" (with 75% expo). Hint: Get as much rudder throw and area as possible as it helps with maneuvering at low speed.

Re: What is everyone flying?

philipa,

The Nutball looks great. How do you like the Blue Wonder motor on it?

Myself I am hoping to get out tomorrow night but chances are iffy due to work commitments. Long hours this past week have prevented me from building anything
Got the itch but no time for the cure...LOL

Cheers,

The BW is a fantastic motor. It hovers at 2/3 throttle and has more than enough punch at WOT to go vertical. Even after 15 min of hard flying the motor barely gets warm to the touch. The motor is capable of 90W input... my setup is only using about 40W on 2S so lots of headroom still.

During my flying last night, I also did a vertical take-off by carefully balancing the plane on the rudder and elevator. I think I may build a stand just for this purpose... way to much fun! Now that I have put some test flights on her, she has earned her 'paint'. Thinking of a race car theme with stripes and numbers.
