Re: Aluminum or carbon fire wing tubes

Here's a lint to the Horizon wing tube page. I tried to buy some Carbon Fibre tubes in Canada but the price was crazy. And the aluminum I found was very thick walled and heavy. Cheers Floyd

Re: Aluminum or carbon fire wing tubes

Aluminum only comes in inch and fraction of an inch sizes. Try your local aircraft supply house. Aircraft Spruce in brampton stock tubing of all sizes and will ship you short lengths. 6061-T6 is the grade you will need. It comes in wall sizes from .035, .049, .058 and so on. I get mine from an outfit that specializes in aluminum manufacture.

Re: Aluminum or carbon fire wing tubes

If you go to Walmart, Giant Tiger, Canadien Tire, if there is one in your area, You can get stainless steel tubing the right size if you check out the SOLAR LIGHTS. , some have a tube that is about to 8 inches long. Another way to get the tubing is the stainless shower curtain rods. You will find that the 3/4 inch aluminum pipe is almost a tight fit.. I have used them on 4 of my 1/4 scale planes with great success....... good luck...... Al
