People of taste are hard to please.

Now I wonder why most promotional videos use music accompaniment.

I hope people are not turning off music when the pilot is trying to fly to the music.

Flying to music is a lot of work. I hope one day I am capable of doing that.

Cheers,

Re: facing the music

Guilty! I made this mistake with my first maiden video. Got lots of "nice vid, lose the music" comments.

Personally I do prefer flight vids that are just natural. Makes it more like you are there.

Re: facing the music

There is a fine line when it comes to music! Some i like and some i dont!
Yes the danger Zone is a NO NO
I can put up with a bit of music, cause i control the volume! My Pet peve is to much or excessive zooming

Heres a guy out in BC, almost every one of his vids has music! But the filming quality is great and his taste in music is good!
http://www.youtube.com/user/warderseeker/videos

I am guilty of putting tunes in some of my videos.
But then i put something like this up.

Re: facing the music

Most of us are not professional film production people, just regular everyday folks out having a good time flying and wanting to catch things on our cheap cameras.

Warning: Languge may be offensive to some

We aplogize if our films, music, etc do not live to YOUR standards, but it was a lot of fun for us regardless. We never realized that we needed to fit certain minimums before posting such atroscities and offending you with same.
Maybe such knowledgable folks like yourselves could help the masses like us, and give us step by step instructions on how to properly film, edit, and post films so that they would appease everyone. Who will be so gracious as to share their knowdlege and experiance in such things? I am sure there is only several hundred different cameras, film editing programs, etc that need to be referanced, but it should not be hard for those already so experianced as you all are. We eagerly await a full in depth article posting any/all possible directions to help solve all the issues as you all mention.

Once again, please accept our apologies as we were doing the best with what we had and our capablilites with them, (or should I say incapablilties).

Re: facing the music

My 2 cents, I have seen many great videos of models and full scale flying, but the music that has been chosen has made some of them into silent movies for me as I just turn down the volume. Music is very subjective, and what is melodic and fitting to me, may be the worst noise to someone else.
Its a tough one. I think that in this case no one solution will ever be found, so those creating the vids will continue to do so to satisfy what and how they feel it should be, and those of us who disagree will have to continue to watch them in silent movie mode.

Fly to the music

The flying was done 6 years ago. That's like thousands of years ago in the indoor aerobatic flying world. The flying is even amazing by today's standard now that we have lighter airframes, more powerful batteries, better brushless motors.

Unlike many free style flights that have patched music accompaniment, this flight actually is flown to the music. I've seen many videos of world-class competitions, but this one is still my favourite. Music is such an integral part of the presentation!

Re: facing the music

I to prefer to listen to the raw sound of a engine, rather than music. Each to there own though. If I come across a vid with music, turn it off move on to the next one, the same goes with the ones where people have no idea how to vid a plane in the air. Lots to choose from out there.
