Someone told me they thought the second generation was suppose to be better about leaking fuel but it doesn't sound like it. I noticed the changed the cooling ring design I kind of miss that it gave it more of a finished look. I just wish the price was a little closer to the first genration. I looked at Tower and the price was $450 and that is nearly 4 times what I spent!

Re: Got the whole set

Mike, When I said "it leaks out the exhaust" I was referring to unburnt fuel! I don't recall any actuall fuel leaks so they must have fixed it. Yes they are pricey but I have seen them for sale on this Forum fairly reasonable from time to time. They are unique little engines, a .30 4 stroke with the power of a .40 2 stroke & the fuel consumption of a .60 2 stroke!

Oh! & did I mention the sound?!

Fuel out the exhaust is what I blamed for my fuel leakage problems but it could have been other places as well. Wankel's had a long history of unburnt fuel and poor economy in all sizes for decades. Still the sound made it worth it. Make a low fly by and that sound was a thing of beauty! I curse the day I sold that engine, I would be flying it now if I still had it.

That's an awesome looking set, I'd clear a whole shelf out of the china cabinet for those! What do you plan to do with them?

Dean I keep telling him he needs to build a Ford Trimotor for them, but he won't listen to me

Maybe one of these would tickle his fancy?????

The jury is still out on that one Dean but whatever they go on they will be used gently!

When you think about it - the fuel/air mix goes in, does a 90 & it's gone! No mixing time!

As for sound, the muffler was always loosening up so I put a 1/2" straight pipe on it! With a 10 x 3 APC turning 20,000 rpm the sound was unreal! As was the power! And it ran cooler too!

Too hard on the ears though so switched back!

You know very well I wouldn't own anything with THAT four letter F word associated with it!

Those Stinsons are pretty cool Ron! Now that I think of it... I have seen twins at fun flys & a couple of 4 engine jobs but no tri motors! We could do it with .40 or .56 4 strokes! Just happen to have them too.

It fact if you squint a bit, there is a marked similarity between that high wing Stinson & say a Kadet Senior or a Tellymaster. Can you spell KITBASH?
