Oops. I read the chemistry of the cells wrong...... My mistake.

Glad you got it all working

Re: reducing servo voltage

I just wanted to add, if you do the mod on a servo extension it will work with any servo.

just remember the diodes should be in series to get the sum of all the diodes voltage drop. in parallel you divide the voltage drop and increase amperage .
example.
1 diode .7v drop
2 in series 1.4v drop
2 in parallel .35 volt drop
combinations of stacking parallel and series can give you any current and voltage drop you need .

4 of your diodes .2 paralleled sets of 2 joined in series would give you the same voltage drop with double the amperage flow.

2 in parallel will not give you 1/2 the drop. The drop will be the same as only one diode.

Re: reducing servo voltage

OK so when the diode i bought said it had a 1.6 forward voltage drop it still only drops it .7?

Re: reducing servo voltage

A little late now, as the diodes are definitely a less expensive solution, but I have been using a couple of these UBEC's from HobbyKing on two of my aircraft, for the receiver when using my 2S LiFe's, 6.6V, 2300mAh.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...23v_Input.html

Jumper selectable for 5 or 6 volts, and will allow gobs of current if required.

Reliability has been good so far.

Just my $0.05 worth since Canada is doing away with the penny, so no more $0.02 worth !!!!

The 1.6 volt drop is at its rated current. Most silicon junction diodes will begin to conduct in the forward direction at .7 volts.

Re: reducing servo voltage

I have a pair of hitec 225 servos in one of my jets running wheel brake and retract vales. They were showing some unpredictable twitchy behaviour when I changed my packs to 2-cell A123 Duralites. I installed one of the spectrum dual channel regs and it solved the issue instantly. Flying since 08 with this setup, zero issues.

Best way to reduce the voltage,.......... Not to fly it!
