It's official. Hobbypartz (USA) is no longer shipping lipos to international destinations including Canada due to the new USPS shipping restrictions:

HobbyPartz will not ship lithium batteries that are not permitted in international mail in addition to Alaska and Hawaii.

The Department of Transportation’s (DOT) regulation for shipping Lithium batteries has taken notice of the additional hazard material handling in which HobbyPartz opt to act accordingly. This will prevent any express shipments listed by the suppliers above from shipping UPS and USPS 1 day and 2 day air. This does not include shipments involved within the continental United States by USPS or UPS ground.

HobbyPartz supports regulations consistent with ICAO Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods in order to fulfill the concerns of maintaining the highest safety to both the shipment carriers and our consumers.

A sad day for us indeed. I was lucky to buy some LiPo sets from them for my helis and I love 'em. Gens Ace and Sky Lipos. Cheap too! There are times the LiPos are at a discounted price for some time. Not to mention a flat shipping rate also.

I was considering buying Gens Ace from Rotorquest (Toronto), however they don't carry the smaller sizes (<1500mAh) I use in my planes. Perhaps I should bug them to carry more selection?

I haven't bewn able to clarify but at first read, it seems that only air shipments across the borders are affected. Anyone got a link to the actual USPS portal where the directive is posted?

All international mail outside the continental USA is affected. This includes Canada.
