A Precision Engine?

Hi Guys;

I’m looking for some information on an engine.

A Chap I know has a New In the Box 30cc gasser that is made by a US company called ‘Precision Motors’… the engine is AT LEAST 15 years old and I can find NOTHING on the web about them.

I am hoping that this is a solid engine that keeps on ticking (like a DA or a SYSSA) - but it fell out of favour because of the lower priced Chinese stuff…

That being said – who knows ANYTHING about them??

I remember Precision Eagle engines. Nice engines in their day.

I would say your engine would be Sachs or Husky cylinder based. Does it have a machined crankcase?

Perhaps post a picture if you can.

Re: A Precision Engine?

'A machined Crankcase'...?

I don't know - I looked at it in the box and it seemed... solid, and 'grey'.

The Carburator was mounted on the side, the instructions/ tech manual said that it weighed 4 pounds and reved up to 7K RPM. This is a little heavy and ~1K slower than the DLE current specs but I'm hoping that the quality of the engine will shine through.

Besides - it is a rare day that people do an entire flight at full power!

So, ... how did the Eagle Precision Engines work? (good / bad?) What happened to the company?

Re: A Precision Engine?

Precision engines morphed into the FPE engines. Depending on cc's they were either Husky or sach's jugs.
May only turn 7k, but it will do it for years on end. Sig used to sell them as FPE for several years.
Definatly use that engine with confidence.

Now THAT'S the vote of confidence that I was looking for!

Re: A Precision Engine?

I was looking at the 'Precision Engine' and I realized that there was no muffler with it... the retailer said that I should go to ANY small engine shop and buy a muffler... it is suppose to be a 'Generic' fit...

Does anyone know about this - or should I just contact the Bisson family for a custom made muffler?

Re: A Precision Engine?

Hi Bruce;
I have three gas engine mufflers that came with a box of mufflers. If you could use one I could be convinced to part with it for a minor fee!! I plan to go for coffee at the Quinte mall tomorrow. Let me know if I should bring them.

Re: A Precision Engine?

HI Bruce they look like this. You will probably have to make an adaptor.

Re: A Precision Engine?

See if you can get a picture of the engine, and exhaust port. If Kip doesn't have anything that will fit, I have a few Bisson mufflers that may fit.
