Eric, I'm finally putting my kit version together (almost done in fact) and was wondering what you would recommend for control throws, as there are none in the manual? As for the CG, I see yours initially balanced at 110mm- have you left it there?
The power system is a Wemo Evo with HET 1760 kv motor, HET 85 amp ESC and 6s, 5000 45C batteries which draws 68 amps on the bench- I was going for an efficient, lightweight combo with sufficient thrust so I hope it is...
Servos are Savox Mg's powered by a Castle BEC.

Re: Ready2Fly Freewing 90mm Venom Kit, 1.5M wing span (video added)

Hi Tom
The CG hasn't changed from my recollection. Because we used a large 5500 mah 6S battery, it was placed as far aft as possible with good results. It has been a while since we flew it but if you have approximately 30degrees throw for each surface it will be adequate. When I get a chance I will post the actual movements in mm.
Cheers Eric

Re: Ready2Fly Freewing 90mm Venom Kit, 1.5M wing span (video added)

This morning we added the Hobbyeagle A3 pro SE gyro and installed a much smaller nose wheel to improve the landing habit of bouncing if landed fast. The gyro was mounted on its side which meant that the elevator and rudder channels had to be swapped.
The gyro main gain setting was reduced from medium to "small" as done in our other jets. The aileron "pot" was turned down very slightly to remove an oscillation in cruise. We flew quite a few approaches and landings and the plane sticks to the runway much better than before. Before it would pitch up if landed any faster than the minimum speed. The gyro made the plane track like it was on rails making low level steep turns very predictable. The rudder throws will need to be made larger but I'm sure it can be made to to a respectable knife edge. It certainly has enough speed and power.

Interesting about the smaller front wheel- I take it the reduced AoA wasn't an issue rotating? I may just do the same to mine.

No issue rotating at all with the smaller nose wheel. The mains are in a good position so the elevator has plenty of authority.
Cheers

Added some simple paddle/fishing line brakes to the Venom. Brakes applied when flaps retracted. Included a photo of the Gens Ace 6s 5500mah pack. Perfect fit and decent flight times.
