Re: I have a problem
Anyone that thinks you can build and sell to make money is highly delusional!
Here is an idea, not an original one mind you, build a scale display model of something significant to your area or Canada in general then donate it to your local museum for all to enjoy! Glen Nigh(I think that's right)on this site has done that and I suspect would give you some pointers.

Re: I have a problem
Nothing wrong with being a collector if you love airplanes , I have been building and flying for years but I have also come to the realization I am a collector , I have found many builders are .I figured there was no sense fighting it. My solution was to put up a building to house my growing collection. If you just like building and are not a collector you should have no problem selling . My advise would be determine if you are a builder or a builder collector . If your the latter you might as well build the hangar now LOL. cheers Roger

I was working on a perfectly good plan to reduce my model collection. For every one I buy, I have to get rid of two. It was working great. I do like to collect and display guitars. I have a stamp collection somehwere. And of course, piles of old RC mags I use for reference. I dont think the missus would like to hear that I have become a model collector!

Re: I have a problem
Claude , your Idea of scratch building will slow you down but will not solve the problem if you are a collector. ask me how I know LOL.

Re: I have a problem
Absolutely true. I never expect to make money when I sell, I just get a few dollars back to buy the landing gear, tank, covering etc. for the next one

Re: I have a problem
Go and design something unique, fly it and make a limited production run for your friends.
Better yet get with your friends and build something truly one of a kind. Get it published in MAAC magazine and become instantly famous and rich

Re: I have a problem
If you are referring to my post with $$ and sell in it. The point was that if you sell at a loss but enjoyed the build you are ahead of not selling and only enjoying the build.

Re: I have a problem
I am not trying to single out anyone Dennis, the fact of the matter is that the care, time and thought we put into our projects have no monetary value to the next buyer never mind the fact that the materials were purchased at full market prices. We cannot compete with the oversees ARF sweat shops that buy in bulk and get labor at pennies per hour!
