I just got a sealed lead acid battery with my starter box in a deal. The battery is 12V and 7.2 Ah. The charger it came with puts out 12v at 1 Ah. How do I know when it is charged so I don't over charge it?

it will charge at 1 amp per hour and charge to 12v. a dead battery would take 7.2 hrs to charge fully. I honestly prefer using my multi charger for them as it does lead acid as well.

What if it is not flat? I have a multimeter to test voltage, can I use that to tell when it's done? I read somewhere that you're supposed to charge them until it is at 12.7V, does this sound right?

I always used a peak charger that does lead acid. Wall chargers and Pb scare me. Switching to lipo in the box for this season.

I also use a multi charger, no errors there, it knows when to cut out.

The triton Jr, can charge Pb batteries, great little entry level charger if you are just starting out. It can charge Pb, Nicad, Nihm, and Lipo (you will require an external in-line balancer).
