Post the tools & equipment you lug to the air field
every time to fly.
I don't want to see radios or planes, I want to see your support gear to keep the birds in the sky. pictures a must! If possible, include model numbers or specific details in case other members want to get something similar. |

Re: Post the tools & equipment you lug to the air field
Pretty new to the RC Planes, had some helicopters in the past, but since i've been going out more and more now with my apprentice, I bring my 12V battery with charger, never know how nice of a day it is and you just may not want to stop flying, i need another extra battery! For Float flying i bring an inflatable tube that i can sit in if the unfortunate happens, nothing like watching your upside down plane floating down the river with no way to retrieve and its in the fall with cold water! Im sure everyone here does this with floats, but i have a float stand which stores my radio as well as my plane on it for the back of my truck to keep the floats from rubbing on truck bed as well as keeps my radio from getting dropped, it all straps on. Picture is of the styro foam black, back side has radio in it, its been refined since then with straps and compartment for radio as well covered in fancy duct tape! All pretty standard stuff.

Re: Post the tools & equipment you lug to the air field
Well, here goes...I mainly fly glow powered planes so there is always a lot of stuff to drag around.
My glow flight box is a Stanley Fat Max triple slide out tool box. I have installed an Accu Glo power panel in the front. The top tray holds all my screwdrivers, pliers, utility knives, prop reamers, clevis tools, etc etc. Under the top tray is a storage compartment that houses parts such as extra clevises, ball links, spare glow plugs, allen wrenches, o-ring pics, etc etc, and also streamers for those combat missions. Second tray holds my Sullivan Dynatron starter that is powered by two 12v batteries in series to deliver 24volts (I hope to go 6s LIPO with that over the winter and then can eliminate the two heavy 12v batteries). Also two glow drivers, forceps, snap ring pliers, glow plug wrenches, Temp gun, battery tester, tach, etc etc Bottom compartment is where the 2 stroke 5% glow fuel jug is, Hobbico electric fuel pump, battery for the power panel, solution to clean the glow snot off with, rags, papertowels, and skeeter spray. I also cart along another 4 stroke 15% glow fuel jug with a Hobbico hand crank for all my 4 strokers. Spare props are also taken along in there own storage pail. I have some electrics also but pretty much all that is required with them is some tape and lots of batteries. Lots of stuff....But love it!

Re: Post the tools & equipment you lug to the air field
It depends on what I'm bringing and how many ..... whats usually in the van - a 600W invertor, power bar & a midsize 12V garden tractor size battery (for chargers & in case the one in the fuel station goes low) and this stuff .... Hmmm .... now that I'm looking at it from this POV .... I need to do a bit of cleanup here too ....
ps: all found at CTC and on sale .... JobMate was the brand name ... Just look in the discontinued/liquidation shelves/bins ... most stores have an area set aside for that kind of stuff ...

Re: Post the tools & equipment you lug to the air field
Hi everyone,
I managed to put this all together over the past several months, and got to try it out recently. Don’t seem to be missing anything, Geez Louise, even the Pros were asking to borrow a few things! The SIG Mini-Boss was a perfect fit and thanks to Rick it’s starting to look like a class act, yes? Go RC Canada!!! Thanks for looking and Happy Thanksgiving! Michael

Re: Post the tools & equipment you lug to the air field
My field box is something I slapped together with scrap wood from my shop. It's nothing special, but it holds all the basic things I need. Tools, field charger, props etc. Only thing is it weighs a bit.. not as much now with the new Align starter and not the dry cell and big honkin sulivan starter...

Re: Post the tools & equipment you lug to the air field
Well Rick, you asked.
Beleive it or not, I don't go flying without my 8 X 20' Wells Cargo trailer. I've been modelling (on & off) for 40 years now, and can't get along without it. In the building season some of the tools/equipment move into the dungeon. In the flying season the same equipment moves back out to my trailer/garage. Being blessed flying on a private model field, it often sits next to my friends model hanger waiting for me to stop and fly on the way home from work 1/4 mile of the hi-way. -Dale- 100% free webcam site! | Awesome chicks and it is absolutely free! | Watch free live sex cam - easy as 1-2-3
