i ended up using a dubro pressure fitting on my saito muffler that came with seals and a nut that went on the inside of the muffler has been working flawlessly for about four gallons now i should mention the raise boss on mine is flat allowing for the seal to seat well

MDS engines can be a pain, but overall they are good hard working engines. I run an MDS 58, and as voyager_663rd stated "The only "trick" was knowing how to set up the hi speed needle. Once that was done, it ran great." He is absolutely right about that. This is why they introduced the C2 carb, made it easier to adjust.

If you are looking for parts, most hobby shops should be able to order replacements in for you. I know that Great Hobbies used to stock alot of MDS replacement parts, but it seems that they are clearing them all out.

Good luck, and I know you will be happy with this engine!!

There is still an MDS website running, although its Russian and they dont have any other distributors listed. I dont know how hard it is to get parts from them but its worth an email...

I just searched yahoo for "MDS engines".

AJC

PS I have drilled and tappe denough muflers to know that there should be more than ample wall thickness for a larger pressure tap to be installed. Just dont overtighten it.

I run some MDS engines and they work awesome. The compression ratio is very high on these engines so you must run no more than 5% nitro or you have to shim the head to prevent detonation with higher nitro content, I currently have a .68 that is almost as strong as my GMS .76.... very good working engines for someone who isn't afraid to tune.
