Re: Glow Head Brotherhood

About a half dozen flights Norm. I just changed engines, I had a Saito .56 in it before which was adequate but you needed to do a bit of energy management to get much vertical. It made you a more honest pilot. I can cheat a bit now!

I love my Saitos! That being said, there is nothing wrong with the OS 4 strokes. I have had excellent service from them too!

Re: Glow Head Brotherhood

In fact here is one that I am at least the third owner of. It was used hard and put away wet by the first owner. Owner #2 honed it out with 80 grit and put in a new ring so when I got it there was a serious lack of power and compression. It has gotten a bit better with time but will never be quite right due to the coarse scratches on the cylinder walls. It still hand starts with one or two flips and powers this bird just fine!

Re: Glow Head Brotherhood

Those models are alot of fun Merv. I beefed mine up and added a twin which works and fly's extremely well. I have since changed out the wheels to 6'' Trexlers.

Re: Glow Head Brotherhood

Mine is a .48 Bill with the extra span. Yours is a .90 I believe with the short wing! It should be a rocket... as Lazy Bees go that is!

Here is a story you might enjoy. (Stop me if you have heard it already! )

About the early 90's my brother in law Richard bought a well used small plane from a member of the Laugheed club with an Enya .15 on it. He had acquired it from a fellow club member who was the original builder. Richard flew it some and sold it to me, I flew it a lot, eventually put an OS wankel on the plane and gave the .15 to my son in law. He built a Sig Wonder for it and flew the bag off it until the Wonder finally succumbed to castor oil rot and came apart in the air this last summer. The engine is still useable! Low enough on compression that it needs a starter but it still runs well! 5 owners later!

I miss Enya, they were good engines!

Re: Glow Head Brotherhood

Yes indeed Enya is a good engine. There are some good quality 2 strokes in the market today and still running from yester year. Keep em going.
