Just noticed this post and have to say it was a wonderful week with the boys in Ocala even if we got our butts kicked at the contest. It was a very eventful week as all of us had one or more issues with our planes. Dennis Dionne is now a master at welding headers, as are Yves Lemire and Don McLellan. I'm an expert at trailer tire swaps, Rick knows to carry piano wire wherever he goes, Dominic is a master at carb tear downs, and Ivan knows that fuel coming out of your tail is not good.
Through it all we managed to see massive improvements in our flying over the week and our mansion was well utilized! Huge thanks to Rick Kroeze for booking us the most outrageous digs one could ask for and yet after a while it
just felt like a normal place..with a pool room, six bathrooms and a guest house bigger than my home

Re: Winter (IMAC) holiday in Florida anyone?

Of note is that if you are planning on flying in the US you should try and get your FAA registration done. Many clubs including Ocala are making it a requirement and we were very fortunate that Ivan was able to get us all legal in time for the contest.
Unfortunately at this time you will need someone living in the States to do it for you since it requires a zip code and US address. Stupid but guess they are still figuring things out.
Strangely enough the border crossing with my trailer both in the Sault and in Buffalo were the fastest I've ever had with no questions about what was in the trailer Guess I don't fit a profile!

We had 37 contestant in total with 10 in Unlimited, 6 in Advanced, 8 in Intermediate, 9 in Sportsman and 4 in Basic.

Only one of the 7 Canadians was able to break into the winners circle. Yves Lemire took 3rd. place in Advanced.

Picture of all the winners plus one of all the Canadians. Good contest, great time!
Hey Ivan,

Glad you could at least get some flying in.

Congrats to all the Canucks who where able to make the trek.

I don't think I've ever seen Dom so clean shaven or Rick sporting a Camo Hat and Shooter Glasses before. Is he spending more time with Kevin R and taking up a new hobby?

This contest is on my bucket list but like Steve a change in life situation has me having to bow out of IMAC for the next foreseeable future. Still staying involved with the IMAC Sequence Committee so you guys don't get off that easy for the Unknowns just not able to attend any contests this year.

Was that Jason Shulman, 2nd from the right in the first picture?

Hey Jim,
Glad to hear you've got a new job and good luck with it!
Yes that was Jason S at Ocala. As usual, he can walk in, use a borrowed airplane and trounce everyone in his path with it...
Good times in FL!

Hey Don,

Only Contract right now but at least money is coming in.

Can't believe no one asked this yet but obviously there was no issue with this whole FAA Aircraft Registration thing?

did the club just ignore it and no FAA Officials or State Troopers arrived to arrest all-ya-all?

Going to really miss seeing everyone this year but also have commitments as the new SE Zone Director to get out o more Club Fun Flys and other contest/events around the Zone.

I guess you are up to your eyeballs at work getting ready for the upcoming California Car Show. Hope you can still get out to fly, IF flying weather EVER arrives? LOL!

Thanks for responding.

Now that's the sign of a talented pilot to do that, someone who can really feel the plane. Wish I had half that ability. Oh well I'm learning a bit more with each year and having a blast doing it.
