Glow powered Kangaroo...anyone?

Who has done a glow version set up on a Roo and do you have any pics you could share of the engine installation?
Seeing how the only turbine I have is in my BD-5J, I was thinking of putting a glow engine on the Roo for fun and something different.
Anyone???????
Myles

myles, i,ve got an untouched roo kit here (composite) but plan on using the glow mount . i,ve seen the glow mount kits for sale on rcu in the past but if that gets you nowhere i can scan/trace out the parts & send them your way. i,m looking at a saito 180 on mine sine i was told a moki 1.8 would be too heavy to balance. search rcu & you,ll find pics of a saito installed on a roo...take care...rob m

Roo engine mount

HI Myzee, I Have brand new engine mount kit in the bag that came with my composite Roo II that you can have, I'm never going to use it, just send me your address and I'll get it off to ya. I have never seen a roo fly with a prop before sure would be something different to see.

glow Roo!

Hi all. I have Rcman's old Roo. Unfortunately we're going to put off for 1 more year to get into turbines (get a bit more experience/ knowledge). I have recently been thinking of putting our TT120 in it. Steven would gain a lot of experience on this plane & be much more prepared for a turbine plane. As far as a motor mount, 2 pieces of aluminum would work fine. Anyone need some, let me know! I haven't found any good sources of pusher props though. Anyone know of any? Looking for 12x7, 13x6, 13x7 or so.
After thinking of this idea a lot, I think Jetcrazy & I really should be getting this setup ready to fly next year. It really would be the way to advance into turbines, knowing the plane already.

jetguy, since ground clearance is gonna be an issue here i went with master airscrew 3 blade pushers. they should make a size for your motor. got mine at lhs (ideal hobbies)...the supplied mount requires no extra holes in the jet that i can see . you drill the holes for the glow mount in the same place as the turbine holes & the thrust line is already taken care of...take care...rob m

Does anyone have a pic or two of the Roo prop install.... This maybe a good idea for me also as my local club here in Sydney does not allow turbines due to fire hazzard in surrounding national park bushland.
Sure would be interesting to see how the Roo performs on the prop compared to turbine. Should go pretty well as AUW with turbine was only 14- 14.5 lb so a honking 120 2 stroke should go ok, only drama is prop clearance of course....
hmmmm wondering if a D/F may even be adaptable? a Ramtec install would be straight forward, just a question if the power/thrust would be enough I guess. If you beleave BVM D/F thrust figures you would wonder why we bother with the smaller turbines

Roo

Brian from our club, donated a 120 two stroke engine to me to try this.
The Roo frame is fairly light without all those turbine components in it so I don't see why a 120 wouldn't work....?
BTW, Marty, Brian and the gang say hello!

Roo Prop

It was a little late when I posted last night. My Roo already has the bottom turbine mounts on it. I was just going to use 2 pieces of aluminum out from the mtr to each Turbine mount. This way I don't think there is any problem with clearance. I had also thought about a df fan unit or just an OS 91 DF engine. But I get scared about putting a prop on turning 21000 or so.
