Id love to have one, id make a ton of parts for my heli's! I had heard of these printers before as well, but not one that would be available for home use!! The cost id save in parts alone is worth the investment!!

We have a Z-Corp printer at work. It works great for making prototype parts to demonstrate your concept, and some parts can actually be functional. The resin is rather weak and brittle when it comes out of the printer, but you can coat it with thin CA glue to toughen it up. That, of course increases the weight. But you can also make things like hollow parts that would not be possible to machine, and in theory you can import any 3D data to it, like MRI images. Great possibilities...

That is very cool technology. We also use this in our workplace to make prototype working models from our cad designs.
As the technology improves, so will the material and product quality. They are already experimenting with powder metal alloys that can also be 3D printed.

Looks like they already have one that makes parts out of metal! Now if they could just downsize it for home use!! I guess i can always dream!

These things are heading in the direction of HP printers - the purchase price looks good until you see the cost of the consumables.
 Overall, the technology is getting cheaper and more practical though.PaulD
