Help in Choosing replacement motor

Hi,

I am relatively new to electric flight. I have purchased an electric glider and would like to install a Hyperion brushless instead of the recommended Plettenberg Orbit 15-14 on 3S2P.

Here is the recommended motor link: http://www.plettenberg-motoren.com/U...tschrauben.htm

Here is the link for the hyperion glider motors: http://media.hyperion.hk/dn/gs/

How can I work out what is the equivalent hyperion motor to the recommended Plettenberg...?. Is there some software that will help me in this choice decision.

Thanks for any help you might give.

Re: Help in Choosing replacement motor

A quick way is this. Multiply the operating current (Amps) of the existing motor by the voltage of the battery to be used. The result is the power of the motor in Watts.

Now you will have to find a motor amperage that will give a close enough result. The Kv of both motors should be similar as well.

Re: Help in Choosing replacement motor

Just compare the Kv, and the average rated amp draw of the motors. Comparing the 2, I'd say the Gs3020-08 is your closest match.
