That old 35cc Zenoah (glow) that came in a Morrisey Bravo wasn't very thirsty or slimey. But it was intended to run on FAI fuel, which happens to be rare in Sk. I cut 10% Cool Power (don't know anyone in the oil patch that would lend me some methanol) so I used what alternative I had at hand. I did supplement the oil with castor oil. Perhaps Castor is easier to clean up than synthetic.....?

Seeing as no one is gonna share how to tell if a gas engine is done, and my past track record on buying used engines, I'm going to have to stick to self-imposed rule #1, no more used engines.

I've learned how much it costs to ship a dinky 50cc to DA, a 150 would make a guy cry. Trevor mentioned engine service a couple days ago, it not just the Post Office that make shipping a PITA, Customs adds to the frustration. BTW my dinky engine still isn't home, no tracking # from the fine folks at DA......

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and call my DA service experiment a failure. At least my engine didn't have to leave to continent to be a disappointment.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

LOL!!! Should have talked to Doug before shipping out that shiney motor - he could have got parts for you in a couple days

My experience with DA has been the same - 1 week to ship down, 1-2 weeks for service, 1 week to ship back. Perhaps a bit longer with customs. I could speed up the shipping, but too cheap, LOL. Usually need to call them for an update and the tracking. But the difference I've had is that they've always repaired/upgraded for free. Usually no communication, however when I enquire, there are no charges.

The only thing I'd check with the DA150 is the smoothness of the bearings and whether you hear any weird clanking when you turn it. And the compression of course. Maybe a check for cracks/broken lugs. Cleanliness of the carb tells a fair bit. When you call DA for your tracking #, ask them what to look for and they'll tell you. You can also tell them the serial # and they'll give you the history of it if it's been back to them.

I'll post pics tonight. Bling to the extreme. I just hope it has enought snot. I'll put it on the stand soon and see what props it likes.

I've seen a 22x10 3-blade at 5800rpm. One guy in Europe is running a 26x8 2-blade who I've talked to. Definitely pretty strong if that's true.

If you have a stump. Hook on to it. A true stump puller can not hide itself.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Here's a few pictures!!! Pure sexiness. Pretty amazing machine work on this one. I popped a cylinder off and it's mint inside. Also whicked compression.

Excited to get this on the test stand - hopefully next week!

I forgot about the little carbs on the glows but super easy to set-up throttle and choke.
