TF P-47 60size
Hey guys just looking for a suggestion here, opened up a new box yesterday and it contained one very nice Top Flight P47 60size. Picked up a TT .91 for it from Dave and am looking forward to putting this together as I finish the build on the Giant Decathlon (which is progressing well ) Anyway while looking at this P47 found that they installed the flaps WAY to tight and can only get 3/4" deflection on right wing and 1 3/8" deflection on left. Large pin type hinges so no opportunity to cut them off and reinstall like I had to on the CA hinges on the GP Cherokee flaps from last month.
If any one has suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. These big pin type hinges are new to me!!! Only used the CA and large flat type dubros. Last edited by flydaily; 01-17-2016 at 10:49 AM. Reason: mistake...duh!! |

Re: TF P-47 60size
Can you hand work them a bit to free them up?

Re: TF P-47 60size
I worked them and got abit more deflection but the hinges have the front of the flap right tight to the back of the wing so when they are dropped the leading edge of the flap rubs tight and hard against the back edge of the wing. Just thought maybe someone on here may have had the same issue before. Put a shout into Hobbico to get some direction on what to do. Flaps are a MUST!!!

Re: TF P-47 60size
Hey there Darryl, when the time comes, take and cut the hinges from the flaps and then drill out the ends on both halves! This is what I have done on mine, not because I had the same issues you have, it's because last year I had a rough landing, resulting in tearing out the retract on 1 side. So as instead of just repairing the damaged area, I made myself a winter time project and decided to remove all the Monocoat, fix what is needed, fiberglass and paint the whole thing a different scheme. I will post some pics soon.
