Elec hello, newbie battery questions here

so i just bought the castle sv2 brushless combo. says i should use batteries with the lowest resistance. how do i find that out? i have a duratrax 7.2, 2000 and a 4200 NiMH battery packs. how do i find the resistance? and whats the pros and cons of Lipo's -vs- NiMH's thanks you guys.

This can be a huge discussion so I'm going to try and summarize as briefly as I can for you.

NiMh have very high resistance, not the ideal batt for a bl system.
I don't believe NiMh actually have a "resistance rating" (I could be wrong-I've been on LiPo for a couple years now)
LiPo's have much lower resistance (defined as: C rating)
NiMh's often can't deliver enough initial power to get the bl spinning. (brushless requires a heavy amp draw to start the motor going).

Long story short, you'll want to switch to Lipo when you can afford it but your NiMh's might work for a while.


There's more to it but that's about the jist of it.

hey, thank you. any information is appreciated. i guess ill look into getting lipos. um, whats the bang4buck way to go on getting battery quality conectors? bullets, deans, traxxas? and what am i looking for when i buy a lipo?
