Quadra35 Carb question

I aquired a Cub with a 35 Quadra on it- bought some tune up parts and spring starter- took it outside to day and fired it up- runs ok up to 3/4 throtlle , then it hesitates, must be a highspeed needle setting-however not being familiar with that motor don't know where to start- it's a Tillison Carb, and the two jet screws (don't know witch is high or low) are towards the front so adjusting while engine is running is out of the question- I did add a velocity stack could that have changed the settings?- can anybody help?

Cheers Kai

Re: Quadra35 Carb question

Hi ; First of all did you take the carb apart and clean it ?

Usually there is a filter screen that is very fine in the carb that will clog up.

If it is very old I would put a carb in and replace all the old fuel lines.

I believe the carb is a Tillotson.

Yes I did put in a new Carburetor kit- and thanks for the website for Tillotson- found the manual and opened up the lowspeed jet 1/2 a turn and everything is "honkey dori"- good throttle response and runs like a top
Thanks for your help

Re: Quadra35 Carb question

Hi, Kai. I noticed when using a velocity stack on a 2 stroke gasser running a glow plug, that I had to lean it out quite a bit. The stack pulls in all the fuel that normally spits out without it. Better fuel economy.
