Spektrum batteries - rechargeable??

This may sound stupid but here goes. I bought a used Spektrum DMX 6i transmitter. It came with 4 AA Spektrum 1400Mah Ni-Mh batteries and a wall charger that fits into the charge jack on the side of the TX. Nowhere on those batteries does it say if they are rechargeable and I've read the manual twice, gone to the Spektrum website and checked their online specs and I can not find any info on those batteries. All that is printed on them is the size, voltage, rating, type but nothing to indicate if they are rechargeable. Can someone help me out here before I try to charge them while they are in the radio and burn something up. . TIA

Re: Spektrum batteries - rechargeable??

Charge em Bill. They are good for about a year then get some better ones. Also, the wall wart charger that comes with the radio is not that great. You will find that over night is not enough. More like 20 to 24 hrs to bring them up.

Re: Spektrum batteries - rechargeable??

Thanks Bill - that's a relief to know. I was really concerned I would damage something if I charged them while they were in the TX. I prefer my Futaba shrink wrapped battery pack where I have a choice - charge in Tx or take out and charge/recycle on my Triton charger. Any recommendations for rechargeable AA size replacements?

Re: Spektrum batteries - rechargeable??

Look up Batteries America or just a good set of rechargables from the hardware store work well.

Re: Spektrum batteries - rechargeable??

I've recharged my in a Duracell wall charger, no problem. I have a digital SLR and the Specktrum batteries are the only one I can get to power it. Oh, they work in the transmitter too.

Re: Spektrum batteries - rechargeable??

Be very careful as Spektrum does make both versions (rechargeable & non-rechargeable) of those batteries that say "Spektrum' on them. Just cause they came with the radio and charger does not make then a rechargeable battery....

Well how dumb is that. I have never seen the non-chargables come with that radio but I guess anything is possible today.

If they say Ni-Mh on them you are good to go regardless of brand...nickel-metal hydride is a rechargeable chemistry!
