Well I'll speak for myself to say that blue schumacher mini pins on my 4WD are insane - too much grip, even with 2 inner and outer rows cut off! I think Martin seems to have some good Tamiya tires working... looks like some partially worn yellow schumacher pins were working well too.

I didn't have time to test many sets of tires but here was my experience today:
- 2wd Schumacher Staggered Ribs (Yellow) on the front and Mini Pins (Yellow) on the rear worked great! (75% Tread)
- 8th scale AKA City Blocks (soft) had to much steering (70% Tread)

I will bring a few others to try next time...I'm thinking of trying a Bar Code type of a tire on the 8th scale or some 20% of another tread patterns.

I was able to run three different tires on my 4WD buggy today....

1) Tamiya Micro Pin tire. I started the day with these and found the traction was very neutral and forgiving. I didn't have to cut any pics from the tire and with some small modifications to my set-up the car was getting around the track really well. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53878

2) Worn Schumacher Mini Pins Yellow compound (20% tread). These were pretty good - however I thought that the Tamiya tires were actually a little bit better. Maybe a little too worn out on the front - however the car had decent traction and lap times were only a couple tenths off the Tamiya tires. Less consistent for my liking ( I think this was due to the almost non-existent foams in the tires)

3) Newer Schumacher Mini Pins - Yellow (85-90% tread). I liked these tires -however very easy to get "edgy". If you like to have your car drive on the edge, these will work fine. Too many opportunities to traction role the car if you weren't careful.

CONCLUSION:

If you have Schumacher mini-pins - run them, however it appears that used ones are going to work better then new on this carpet surface. I liked how the Tamiya micro-pin felt on my car, however, I would really like to try a clay tire like a Bar-code or Goose-bump or even the Proline Suburbs. I think any "clay" tire is going to work well on the carpet on this track really opening up the options vs. having to rely on Shuey Mini Pins.

1/8 scale....I used Alpha Omnicron's with good success, no traction rolling! anything with a small pin I think will work well.

Shortcourse.... AKA Enduro's work really well, Proline Calibers M2 worked well too, but allowed the truck to roll a little more, have a bit more traction too.

About the venue....
Great flowing layout, Awesome straightaway
Easy going/friendly EXPERIENCED race commitee
NO barriers (100% visual on your car, no poles)
TONS 'O' pitting space
1hr from burlington (lol)_

When's the next get-together.... I'm there

The turn out for the SC class was pretty good for our first day. There was a good mix of 2WD and 4WD trucks and on the most part the trucks seemed to be handling the track very well. One of the best looking trucks in terms of handling was Steve Newstead's - which I believe was a 2WD SC10.
