I used one of plane benders pipe supports brodie. I think the pipe supports that come with the plane will work fine. I just wanted a nice aluminum support on this nice pipe lol

Well time to get the pipe mounted and connected.

I first installed the planebender pipe mount and any Velcro straps I might use.
These can be removed if I don't need them but I am going to take a guess where the batteries will go because installing the straps is so easy before the pipe goes in.

I installed 1/8" plywood under the can mount to reinforce the pipe tunnel.

Re: Light 3DHS 92" edge with GP61 & Smooth Pipe

I am going to Pre drill and tap a hole in both the pipe, the header and the Teflon coupler so the pipe does not slip off.

This is definitely easier out of the plane. I first installed the coupler on the pipe. Tapped the hole with 3mm and used the 3mm bolts that come with savox servos.......I knew I would have a use for them before the bin filled up completely

I could not find my red permex so I hope this stuff works...only stuff I could find this morning.

Re: Light 3DHS 92" edge with GP61 & Smooth Pipe

I started installing the pipe and it felt like it did not want to slip by the pipe mount. I sprayed the pipe with water and it slid in like Trevors new ski's on frosty grass

I used the same technique and some heat on the Teflon coupler to make sliding the header into the coupler and line up the holes real easy. once again the pipe slid back and forth in the coupler.

I heated up the Teflon coupler and pipes to high temps to help the clamp sink into the Teflon a bit.

I put a very thin film on both sides of the header gasket and installed that.

Again I heated up the head of the motor and got another 1/4 turn on the muffler bolts after heated. I put some gasket maker on the bolts before installing so they don't back out.

Well that's it for tonight.....time to shower and hit the bed

It looks like an MTW header. Can you tell us what the drop dimension is?

Re: Light 3DHS 92" edge with GP61 & Smooth Pipe

Hi Paul,
Lorne used a 50 mm drop.

Andy and myself used a 25mm drop.

Both will work, but 50mm puts the pipe more in the center of the tunnel.

Like brad said 50mm drop wrap around header. It worked great, put the header dead center of tunnel
