I did try a Lipo in my 2WD at the beginning of the summer - it reduced forward traction, and on the straight the car was doing wheelies, since there wasn't enough weight to keep the front wheels down!

If anything, lightening up a 4WD may help. At this past weekend's race, I ran a regular setup, my Lipo's were of no use since the BJ4 uses a saddle pack format, and my Lipo's (orion) are stick. The car ran perfectly though - clearly the manufacturer builds the car to perfection, testing it under the 'normal' weight conditions.

I mainly bought a couple of Lipo packs for convenience - you can charge them 3 days or 3 months in advance and they hold the charge. Also, you are not supposed to discharge them - you can run a 5 min. race, then just peak up the same pack right after, taking half the time as a full charge.

The weight that most are adding to the B4 is not in the front but in the back of the car - under the rear chassis brace. The car rotates too well and adding weight would worsen the natural twitchyness of the car. The design of the B4 repaired the "pushing-like-plow" problem that the original RC 10 and the B3 had.

Anyway - welcome back to the dirt ... I too raced in the 80's back in the "glory days" of off road.

Well thanks all for running all over my topic and messing it up...

I was looking for positive interest in a SPEC class at Sids.. setting up some basic rules to run by.. Cars must be cars.. not trucks running as cars.. etc..

I was not looking for a debate on setup or driving skill..

I guess i should have just started a poll.
