I forget who I was talking to at one of the EPROTS, but someone was asking where to get cheap batteries...

There are a lot of great deals on ebay these days it seems, and I was able to grab 38 loose cells for $200 Canadian after shipping, duty/taxes and currency exchange.

That turns out to less than $35 per pack (6 cell) after building supplies for high quality IB3800 cells!!

Besides saving money, another good thing about building your own packs is that you can get creative, and build 7, 8, 9, etc cell packs. For example, I built a 9-cell pack for my stampede - it's weight is off-center so I can re-distribute weight in my pede simply by turning my battery around depending if I want more steering or more rear traction.

So if you don't mind soldering (I'm gonna be soldering all weekend getting my packs ready for EPROT 4!) buying cells in bulk is a great way to save money! Just keep your eyes open for deals on ebay...

ONE WORD OF CAUTION!! Be very careful storing SxS packs... take a look at the 7-cell pack in the top left of the picture... that's what happens when a screwdriver shorts the battery if you leave it in your toolbox unprotected. The cell missing was completely fried, with oxidation pouring out of it!!! Always store your packs carefully!!
