Is the jacket leather or textile and what model is it? Can you post or email pictures?

Off topic "Waco"

Mel, Did you ever find the Waco info you were looking for. Since I bought that OS 35 engine from you a couple years back I have became interested in Waco's myself and have found info on certain things.

Bill

Waco

Hi Bill
I don't remember what I was looking for two years ago, hell,I don't rember what I was looking for last night!
The only thing I havent found yet is the book" There Goes A Waco".It is full of information on all the planes Waco produced, and would be worth having for sure. The YKS 7 I have was already built when I got it and is just getting the trim and numbers applied.
Thanks for the come-back and if you come across anything you think would be interesting let me know.I'll do the same.

Many Thanks
Mel

Waco

Hi Mel,

Good to hear back from you. I remember that beautiful little Sterling Waco "SRE" that you had hanging up. It had been faithfully produced as the original and looked just like the one on the box the kit came in.

May I ask which Waco YKS-7 that you have? I presume it was a plan built model. Who drew the plan? Do you have the plan? How big is it? I hope the attachments will help make up for the 64 question. I have developed quite an interest in Waco's lately.

I have some Pitts designs that haven't been modelled to any appreciable degree to finish up but I am really ready to switch to Waco's as a main interest. The Pitts S1-T, S2-S, S2-B, and S2-C have not been done to any appreciable degree. Or the Samson for that matter. People keep whacking out the old S2-A's and S1-S and making them look like current aircraft. These are all over 30 year old designs.

Anyhow, I'd love to know more about your YKS-7. I have added some attachments that may help you out.
Take care, Bill

Waco

Hi Bill
Thanks for the attachments,I'm always looking for information on these things.
The YKS has a wingspan of 84"and weighs 21 lbs. I think the Quad 50 should handle it nicely. If it flys as good as it looks I'll be happy, and I think it will.I bought it from a gentleman in Aurora two years ago and haven't had it in the air yet.Don't like to rush things ya know.If you like I can PM you his phone number and he can likey tell you who built it and whether he has the plans or not.
Another source of information on Waco is AirVenture in Ohio. They are building full scale YKS's and have a pretty good web site.
If you are getting tired of doing the Pits I don't think there is a prettier aircraft than the Waco, especially the SRE.
Have Fun with whatever you are doing.

Take Care
Mel

HKS

Hi Mel,

Thanks for the info. The Waco's are indeed beautiful aircraft. I am just becoming familiar with what's around in the Waco model world. The 84" YKS was a new one to me. If you don't mind PMing me the gents number whom you received the plane from and if you don't think he would mind me calling I would indeed appreciate the opportunity to call him. The way these esoteric subjects seem to be disappearing I wouldn't mind finding out all I can before they are gone.

The SRE is indeed the best of the breed. They are all great but Waco held the SRE out to be it's crowning achievement. Here's a pic of the first Waco. They don't build them like that any more. The newer ones flew. The Q50 should fly your big one just fine. I would be in no hurry either to fly it. Talk to you soon.

Take care, Bill
