The Carl Goldberg Eagle 2 ARF comes with control surfaces attached. Flies nicely with an LA46.

Hey Shawn, we carry a few trainers as well. Head over to our site here and check them out. If you're really interested in them, call us and tell the old man you're a member here and see what he can do for ya! Control surfaces are all pinned. You will have some glueing to do and servo installation as well as the engine and gear but it's pretty easy to do.

I had the Tiger Trainer a few years ago, but I didn't like having to install the control surfaces. I know I sound kinda picky, but I would rather be at the field than in the shop. Any suggestions???
A few students at our club have shown up with something called an Alpha trainer. I think it is by hobbico (?) but it comes ready to fly, with servos installed, and evolution engine (they seem to run fine) and a JR Quatro Radio...all for around $500 CDN.

As far as I can tell, it's pretty much a true RTF package...not an ARF. I read a british article that criticised the carb on the evolution engine, but the 3 I have seen run just fine... must be inferior quality control for the European market hehe.

Any of the following would be adequate from less expensive to more expensive. All are ARF and wood construction. All excellent fliers.

Seagull - Boomerang ARF $ 120.00 (can't beat the price/quality)
Seagull - Arising Star - ARF $ 136.00
Hangar 9 - Solo Sport - $ 150.00
Hangar 9 - Alpha Trainer ARF - $ 165.00
Sig Kadet LT-40 ARF - $ 193.00

I just noticed ......... no one mentioned the SPAD Debonaire!

For very little cost it makes a great trainer, I know Codys is!

Not much of a build to a Debonaire (SPAD)!

Takes longer to put the servos in!

Which you have to do with an ARF as well not to mention some assembly.

I had a Thunder Tiger 60 ARF and i wouldn't recommend it. Not the greatest construction (plastic, cheap covering) however I am gonna second Terry's recommendation for the LT40 ARF. Our club trainer is a LT40 and it is really nice. Also Hanger 9 makes some really awesome ARF's. Check out Hanger 9 but you can't go wrong with the LT40.....
