You can also get Liquid electric tape at princess Auto, they sell it on the same isle where the electrical cords are located.

Re: How To: Water Proof your servo (axial servo waterproofed)

Well, fair warning. My one rig spent a ton of time in the drink and the servo that was greased, liquid electrical tapes and siliconed seized up on me.

My guess is the water came in where the servo gear comes out of the servo housing.

I seen a youtube video where a guy claimed his stock, non-waterproofed Axial servo has been in water tons of times and never seized on him, not sure how much of that I believe.

Good news is the rest of the servos are doing well.

$20 is a great price!

I need to pick up a couple servos, time to shop around.

Re: How To: Water Proof your servo (axial servo waterproofed)

Rick, I noticed in your first post that you are using a silicon sealant. I have that exact same tube in my workshop. It is an acid cure silicon sealant (the warnings on the back mention acetic acid). Never ever use acid cure silicon sealant to seal electronics. The sealant will leach acetic acid that will eat away exposed metals on the circuit board resulting in eventual failure.

If you are going to use a silicon sealant, make sure it is neutral cure.

Regards,
...jim
