I finally got the rest of the Astro Hog I was working on back together so I was able to get at the Glider . I took an old cardboard tube from a roll of monokote and cut it to fill the holes in the top of the fuse . I then trimmed them to fit and glued them in place with thin CA . I then soaked the cardboard in CA and hit it with activator and it made a nice solid repair . I sanded the repairs lightly and I have some foam safe paint to give the fuse a light coat tomorrow . It won`t be a show piece but its solid and will be presentable for a first glider . Thanks for all your help guys .

Foamy gliders are great but don't expect to catch any thermals with them. Flying a thermal is a art and skill that comes with pratise, skill and a good, well setup glider. It is really difficult to find a thermal and max out, most times you just luck in. Really good glider pilots can actually feel and see thermals.

Foamies sure can find and catch thermals. My brother likes to fly the radian glider (the first gen) and he regularly catches and rides thermals all the time.

I've had the occasion of flying my Kadet SR in FPV and getting caught in a massive boomer. Even with the motor off I was climbing like a rocket. Spotter straining to keep his eye on the model, power off, and lots of down elevator to get out of it. That was a fun day!!

Re: When should I learn to fly glider?

Thanks guys . I am not expecting fantastic things from this glider just hoping for a good experience from it . I hope to learn the basics with it and see if I enjoy it or not and if I do I will build a better bird next winter .
