Good morning fellas, had some time to play around today and here is where I stand.
Servos all moving in the correct direction, and the plugs are in the right spots. So that's good. And that's about where it ends. Here are the ongoing issues.

1. No rear swash movement on elevator input. Minimal forward movement only. Played with trims and everything, no change. Aileron has no issues. Collective input surprisingly has full response of all 3 servos.

2. Servos seem to be hunting for their centre. When sticks are released, they go to where they think centre is, and then slowly creep back to true centre. Not what I was hoping for.

3. ESC still having issues. I'm still able to power electronics with the on board battery, just not able to start the motor. I also have no response on my programming card, no lights, nothing. With either an external battery or relying on the BEC of the ESC to send power. Apparently my programming card is shot. Just checked it with another ESC, and again, no lights. Here's something close to what I have, I can't remember where I got this one. In the files section, there is a link to the manual for the unit I have.
ESC:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ming_Card.html

Manual:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...X243715X20.pdf

I did use it to program the last ESC I had, but now it won't work, on that same ESC.

So that's where I stand now, would be nice if everything would work for once.

Cheers
A

Re: New set up issues

Thanks Max, I do a large amount of commuting down that area. Ever hear of something strange like this? Is it a simple matter of just playing with servo throws?

Re: New set up issues

well y'all aint gonna believe this. After leaving the unit for several hours, and then plugging it back in, the swash moves correctly!!!!
Did some further reading on this ESC I have, apparently I have to let it go through its initial set up of musical tones? Doesn't make sense. So it's singing away on my table, lets see what happens.

Re: New set up issues

Well after that, no change. It appears I may need a programming card for a Hobby King speed controller, if anyone has one in the Barrie area they would be willing to loan? Or have an idea about these ESC?
Also, one other thing I noticed. Rudder servo throws - very little movement from the transmitter causes the servo to hit its max throw, with lots of empty stick left over. Again, is this a gyro issue?

Re: New set up issues

Maybe a silly question.. but did you complete all the setup screens using the ZYX-S software? It allows you to see and change the direction and travel limits of all the servos.

Re: New set up issues

Hey Ed, I've gone through the set up screens a number of times already, nothing I seen or changed appeared to help. Changing the throws and limits didnt do anything, and I set up the throws in the radio exactly how directions stated.

Re: New set up issues

Progress to date:
Still playing with the rudder servo limits.
Still having issues with ESC not throttling up. I was however able to program it, and it beeps correctly indicating the cell voltage. I went through all the programming options and listened to the various beep tones, however the motor will still not start.
Anyone have any issues with this?

Thanks again fellas

Try these 2 things.

#1
Remove blades just for to be safe.

Now just for fun, lets see if your throttle is reversed in the transmitter. The esc should not allow it to initialise if throttle is high. Maybe at low stick on Tx, it is really at high throttle because the channel is reversed.

Try putting the throttle to the high position and plug in the battery. See if it works.

#2
What is the PWM setting on the esc set to. Looks there is only 2 settings for that esc, try the other one. Your motor may not run on the current PWM setting.
