Ok what can anyone tell me about a 84" Airborne models extra 330L. Is it an older kit, good, bad, looking at one on here. I did a quick search and didn't find a manual for it.

I would like to reuse my canister, just has a few scratches on it, can't say as much for the header pipe.
Not really in a big hurry just looking to see what's out there.

Woulden't it be easier and faster to just install a new crank what they worth. Pennies ?

That's the second thing I did, check the battery, it was good yet. The battery was fully charged the night before with one ten minute flight on it. The whole time the plane was gliding around with no response I was invisioning a dead battery. The battery is junk now...puffing up, was damaged in the crash.

Hi David
Don't buy anything, I'm working on something for you.

Rick, I think the crank may be ok. I will use you expert experience and machining knowledge to check the final trueness of the crank. Tonight I pulled the carb off and found the crank brushing the rear of the crank case. I pressed it back in and now it's turning free again. I did a rudimentary measurement with my calibers of how true the crank turned over and from what I can see it's ok. We'll take closer look at it when you're available.... sometime in October maybe.

Dave

Thanks Gaston, but don't be doing anything foolish, I'll get something for next year, all the electronics came through fine. The only thing I need to check..... I think, is the throttle servo, the cheapest one. The throttle linkage was not pretty when all was said and done. But there was no power on in the unit so nothing was pushing back. All the big expensive electronics strayed in place.

Dave

Re: My new extra 300 has left me at a lose for words

Dave - take the time to have a good look at everything. Good chance to reassess over the winter. I have often sent servos down to the manufacturer over winter and they have repaired gear sets or made them right for not a lot of cost.

Let Rick look at the engine in October and see what condition it is in. Sometimes things are not as bad as they seem. The airframe may be toast but the rest may be salvageable.

We have all been there and feel for you. Poop happens. Get back on the horse even if it is a different colour .... One thing you know by now is that the community will help you any way we can !!

At my age, I can afford to be foolish or you could say unorthodox, have a great evening....
