Two weeks plus and no reply.

Struts is sort-of right..... any model is a compromise between scale, functionality, and price.

However, if you going to toss in comments like he did and not back them up by saying XYandZ or whatever isn't right and how far it is off, then your credibility tends to suffer(peanut gallery or worse.)

I've seen some of Canada's best scale modellers at presentations over the years. They never claim to be the definitive expert on a subject and are always willing to say where their projects aren't 100% scale or what they had to do to get the 100% scale whatever built or working. They also don't slam other people's efforts or products.

Re: SuperConstellation; check out this new arf !

I have been working 12hr shifts and therefore haven't been doing anything to my models or have been on here. When you looking to spend 4K on a model even being an ARF, you better want to get perfect scale model for ur money as this is just the airframe and non scale landing gears for 4k!, no electronics or engines!...maybe some of you on here have that much free money to blow away to but most on here sure don't.

Errors...

Passenger window lines are off, on actual aircraft middle and aft fuselage windows are higher then forward fuselage as there is step or slope between 2 sections at the front. On this model all are in straight line and therefore at much lower height then should be....

How cockpit windows connect to nose, there is a distinctive crisp angle change on actual airplane where as on this model it's like dolphin looking with bald curve.

Nose gear doors first door is like half triangle with top section flat that connects to door number 2, well on this model it's anything from being right shape.

Centre fuselage above the wing, plus section infront and behind of the wing is constant barrel shape where as on this model you don't see that at all.

Lower cowling scoop's forward intake's lengths are much smaller on this model if compared to actual aircraft's if compared scale wise....

On a model of this size and scale least nose landing gear should have side links and drag links, where as this is just a long strut, plus axles are not canted either....

Like i said in my first post, as an off scale or fun scale model, this PHE S Connie fits in perfectly but if one wants close to scale representation then this dosen't fit in at all unless you do major changes to its structure. Again when ur paying $4K for a model that also weighs over 100lbs, well most will agree to get perfectly built model and not a fun scale type.

These are my preliminary observations about this model after spending 6 years building a near perfect S Connie model by using factory drawings, maintenance manuals, technical drawings etc etc. I think I know what i'm taking about. If you like this offering, then great but if you don't then no biggie, have fun folks and safe landings.....

So, you are looking for a thirty thousand dollar model plane? That would be the price from a professional.

It'll fit in the van, you just need a bigger one, that's all....lol

Impressive plane, too bad it's too heavy for Canada.

Thanks for the insight Struts. I am certainly not an expert when it comes to the SC. For the discriminating modeller though, I imagine one would want everything scale after all. None the less it is an impressive looking kit.

OK, maybe it's because I'm an avid anime fan, but the blue wheel chock looked a bit off (not scale, would be Struts comment). Topmost dimension seems off by about 10 inches....

Went looking for period pictures to compare, and realized that my memory isn't quite right -- got spoiled by 1960/70's wheel chocks.
