Chad your splitting atoms.

A roll is a roll at the basic level. A loop is a loop at the basic level. This is about fostering competition at the grass roots. The club level. Teaching pilots the basics of flying clean lines and controlling their aircraft.
Can you tell me pattern is any different from what I just described ?
Even freestyle. You need the basics, you need to learn how to control the plane . Not just slam the sticks about. Heck , even I can do that. It's what I usually do......
If the heli guys want to do a heli style initiative. They are more than welcome to put together a plan.

So are "you" with Pattern.

Yes MAAC backed this current initiative. But MAAC didn't create this particular contest program.
MAAC isn't going to create a series for you. They didn't create it for Lee's group.
Put something together and make a proposal.

Re: The Great Canadian Aerobatic Challenge

Just rename it so as to not be confusing. If its about fostering growth in IMAC thats great, but then promote it as such.

Don't wrap it up as something its not. No other committee interest group that flies aerobatics was consulted on the program, so its a stretch to call it an "aerobatics" challenge.

Re: The Great Canadian Aerobatic Challenge

Why don't you tell us what aerobatics is then.

The maneuvers are the maneuvers.
Aresti is aresti

Guys are flying with sport planes and trainers.

Why are you making such a fuss over this ?????

The pilots can then branch off into more specific disciplines latter if they so choose.

Re: The Great Canadian Aerobatic Challenge

There is obviously some deep resolved and unspoken baggage here!

If you want to include everyone, then do so. If I want to teach someone to fly pattern, I certainly wont introduce them into the Basic IMAC sequence, because its too different to how you would fly pattern.

If I wanted to teach someone how to do freestyle aerobatics, I wouldn't teach them the Basic IMAC.

If I wanted to teach someone how to fly indoor precision aerobatics....you get the idea.

Its a good idea, but its being promoted as something it is not, and its being done under MAAC which should be supportive of all disciplines, not just one.
Not sure about your statements Chad as learning how to do ANY sort of aerobatic maneuver translates into many disciplines. You judge before you've even seen the whole package which will be adding elements that aren't on the regular agenda.
Give it a chance.

Re: The Great Canadian Aerobatic Challenge

Lee, Shame on you!!

You know very well that nobody in Canada can fly aerobatics as well as Chad!

Just ask him, he'll tell you all about it.

He's probably just pi$$ed off that nobody consulted him before using the word "Aerobatics".

Regards,

Dennis

Re: The Great Canadian Aerobatic Challenge

This is all about the basics boys and girls. Call it what you will, but in the end only you can decide what you want to do with it. You will however be able to do " it" much better
