Gopro Hero2- Anyone using it?

Hey guys. After taking some less-than perfect videos using HK cheapo camcorders:

and the keychain camera:

and/or recording my downlink video(when flying FPV), I was getting frustrated with my lack of quality. Having seen other videos of impeccable quality on YT, I found myself wanting a better camera.

The Gopro Hero seems to be the camera of choice.

Having missed some boxing day sales for the Hero (out of stock... what else is new..) I have been looking at the Hero2. It does have some improvements over the Hero1. Better lens, higher frame rates, and some other features. It is also $100 more than the original hero. Is it worth the extra money? anyone else using the Hero2 camera and can report on whether is it is worth the extra money??

Re: Gopro Hero2- Anyone using it?

I got the hero original but the 960 version and I LOVE mine.

To be honest the 1080p 30fps is great for RC with the wide angle. I like in the new one you can choose the wide or narrow angle. I would pay the extra and get the 2.

If you just have wide angle its great in the air but you cannot use it as a camera or regular video camera. The new one also has a few other features that are nice.

see my youtube account.

kevinkingrc and check out some samples.

Re: Gopro Hero2- Anyone using it?

Max, I picked up an Outdoors H2 from here. http://www.launchhelmetcams.ca/gopro-hd-hero-cameras
It came with an SD card and shipping was free. The front LCD screen is much better to navigate the menu. It is 2g's heavier then the H1. 11megs for still photos. It has better viewing in low light condidtions, dark areas are not blacked right out. I do have two H1's for sale. Make me an offer, you never know

Re: Gopro Hero2- Anyone using it?

That is a pretty good deal there, Brian. I looked at the price difference and decided to go with a Hero2.

Was that a special they had going on? Because I don't see any mention of a SD card in the listing on their sit now.

It may have been a special. I ordered before Christmas and received it on 23Dec. Probably to get holiday sales up.

Ok thanks for the Info after taking a closer at site I see they are offering the sd card with the surf edition of the H2 the others they are saying "Low Stock - call for availability" so I guess that's why they aren't offering it anymore on the others.

Re: Gopro Hero2- Anyone using it?

Hero2 is replacing the Hero1. The hero1 i got was defective and everyone is now soldout of them. Everyone had deals on. I had to pay more than I wanted to go to the V2 but it had some features I really liked. If you have not got the V1 on order somewhere I think you will have a hard time finding one. V2 has rercording indicator lights visible on all sides, direct HDMI port, much easier to understand LCD screen and a remote mike input. It has a different lens (no fisheye??? hopefully). It is compatible with wifi streaming and remote. I am sure there is more but I will need to open the box for that.

Re: Gopro Hero2- Anyone using it?

Does the V2 use the same case and battery? If so I could just do a naked version upgrade as I already have a V1.
