Kyosho nexus 30 restoration

Hi guys i am planning on restoring a nexus 30 i bought in the summer and have quite a few questions. First what would be a good gyro to replace the original mechanical one? Secondly does anyone know of a newer style canopy that will fit this bird? Trex 700 canopy? And lastly, for now, what battery pack do i purchase to power the electronics? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Kyosho nexus 30 restoration

Any good quality heading hold gyro would work. They arent that expensive either. A Futaba GY401 or equivalent and a good digital servo on the tail would be my choice.

For battery power, I would use a 2000 mah NiMh or larger.

Ask away if you have any more questions. I have a couple of C-30's and have repaired a friends Nexus several times in the past. I even have a few spares here if you are stuck

Thank you for your reply max. I have read about the gy401 being a good choice for a gyro, just wanted to be certain. Btw i have a second nexus 30 and i bought a parts lot on ebay in the summer. Basically i have everything needed to restore this, except of course the gyro and batt pack. Also do i need the buzzer for low batt pack warning? And i bought a canopy cover for a trex 700 and it fit the nexus canopy perfect. Im guessing the trex 700 canopy can be made to fit. Hard to get measurements from sellers. Btw i will have many questions coming. I appreciate the help.

Re: Kyosho nexus 30 restoration

I have two 401 gyros and a Futaba 9253 servos.
One gyro/servo combo is brand new, the other combo is used but totally MINT condition.
Let me know if i can help you out.

I have only ever ran the 401 gyros and i love them. i never needed anything else. For your Nexus' the 401 is perfect.

Re: Kyosho nexus 30 restoration

I'm still using a 401 and Futaba 9253 tail servo on a Predator gas heli.

Thanks. Ive been thinking about joining the keswick flyers club for years now. I even called years ago about how to join. It is obviously my best option.

Re: Kyosho nexus 30 restoration

Barry,
There is a group of us that get out regularly during the spring / summer months. Join the cub and join our fun. Couple of us fly heli's as well... We are a low key group focused on fun and supporting each other to be better fliers.... A couple are even club instructors so we can help out as well..... Stop thinking of joining and just do it....

D.
WE also fly indoors on Monday and Friday nights. Flying indoor is a good way to get a jump on summer flying and keeps the fingers loose..
