2s lipo to my rx and esc?

I was told to ask this question on a heli forum cause you fine folks are way ahead of the curb on this HV stuff. So I'm trying to run a 2s lipo on my rx to supply my servos and esc input voltage. The esc is a castle 120 edge. From what I have read input voltage max is 8 volts one the rx side. I'm running 10 on the flight side. How do you guys do it? Do you just run a 2s lipo? Do your put some kind of regulator in? All my servos are HV. Thanks in advance.

Re: 2s lipo to my rx and esc?

The Castle Edge 120HV has no internal bec so leave the wires as found on the esc receiver wires. There is no problem with a 2s power supply as long as your servos and receiver are fine with it. it is common on helis where guys do not want to run an external bec and run a 2s lipo or life pack instead. If you ever go to do this with a esc that has an internal bec pull the center wire from the esc receiver lead and shrink tube it back as running a power source from the receiver side (2s lipo) and the esc into your receiver at the same time does not end well usually for the esc.

Re: 2s lipo to my rx and esc?

Thanks Dennis, servos are high voltage and can handle 2s lipo no trouble. I will admit the other esc's I blew up were not castle. But all have been opto esc. I ran the lipo to the rx all on it's own. Just don't want to blow up a castle.

Re: 2s lipo to my rx and esc?

I run a 2S with a BEC directly to the RX, no need to hook it to the ESC

Re: 2s lipo to my rx and esc?

What is your bec set to for voltage Max? My servos can handle 8.4 volts. I would like as high of voltage as I can to have the servos run as fast as they can. The esc still gets input voltage from the rx in the form of the signal wire, if too high smoke is removed from the esc. Maybe castle is different but the paper work I've seen says max input of 8.0 volts. That's the only reason I'm hesitating, 3 esc blown and one more that works is an expensive set up.

Re: 2s lipo to my rx and esc?

I run the BEC at 6V. That is as high as mine goes.
Some of the newer BEC's will run higher volts, which is better for the new generation digital servos

Re: 2s lipo to my rx and esc?

Ok thanks Max I'm looking to to run at least 8 volts. Which is my issue. But life batteries run 6.6 volts which is good....ish. lol!!!
