Hi guys, I'm new to gas engine planes, what I would like to know is..... where should I put the prop on my gasser in regards to ignition timing, should it line up with the pick-up on the prop hub, maybe 3 o'clock position, 6 , 9 ?????? (CRRC26CC) is there a good spot for hand starting??

Hey, guys,

we need a little more info than just 1 o'clock.

Where is the crank relative to the ignition timing sensor? Is the piston at top dead centre, bottom dead center, just coming on compression, just past compression or just exactly where when you bolt the prop on at 1 o'clcok??

Oh, and does it make a difference if the engine runs with a magneto instead of electronic ignition?

Usually where it's easiest for you to hand prop it. A bit of experimentation will show you the best place for you.

If your right handed, bounce it up against comp and set the prop somewhere around the 2 oclock pos. Left handed, around the 8 oclock. Try it around there and fine tune it for your own preference. Idea is to get it to go past the coil at the fastest speed. Not so important on batt. ign.

Go to www.ch-ignitions.com and look under instructions. This will give you an idea of how to set up the advance for the sensor and pick up. I like to set the prop at the 2 o'clock position so it is just coming up to compression.

1 o'clock on compression.

When your prop is around the 1 o'clock position you want to feel compression. It gives you enough time to remove your hand out of the way once the engine fires up.
